Call for Papers


With the advancement in applied science and technology, urbanization too has also increased challengingly. In line with this trend, the International Conference on Green and Safe Cities (IeGRESAFE 2024) is expected to provide an international platform that allows researchers, academics and industry experts to share and exchange ideas on their latest research, experience and knowledge. The International E-Conference on Green Safe Cities (IeGRESAFE) 2024 will be the second conference of its series. It is one of the Green Safe Cities (GreSAFE) Research Interest Group (Tier 4) initiatives that will be held biannually



2nd IeGRESAFE 2024 is a collaborative effort between GreSAFE, Syiah Kuala University (Indonesia), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia) and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (Malaysia). This collaboration aims to foster good relations, improve, and enhance the quality of the academic community at the university. Prospective authors are welcome to submit their full papers. All submissions to the conference will go through a blind review process by at least two independents’ reviewers.



2nd IeGRESAFE 2024 enables collaboration between science and technology in academia and industry as well as international networking. Attendees will find the various activities helpful in bringing together a diverse group of scientists and technologists from multiple disciplines to generate new ideas, potential collaborations, and business opportunities. Academia, professionals from industry and government research and development, professional practice, business and management in science and technology are welcome to 2nd IeGRESAFE 2024.

Submission Guideline

• The paper must be original and has not been accepted in any journal or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
• Abstract Papers must be submitted in MS Word format. Please use the following link for submission.
• Full Papers must be submitted in MS Word format. Please use the following link for submission (will provide later) .
• Please ensure that all documents adhere to the abstract and full paper templates.

The article must include abstracts, keywords, content, references, tables, diagrams, and appendices. Complete paperless abstracts will NOT be accepted. Papers for presentation at the conference will be selected through a double-blind review process.

At least one author for each paper received must register and pay the fee for the conference by 27th August 2024 for the article to be included in the conference programme. By submitting a paper to be presented at IeGRESAFE, you agree that you will have the funds for the fees and register for the conference.

Keynote speaker
Professor Ts Sr Dr Md Yusof Hamid

Professor Ts Sr Dr Md Yusof Hamid is a Professor at School of Real Estate and Building Surveying, College of Built Environment, UiTM Shah Alam in the field of strategic facilities management. Currently he is an Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) at UiTM Malaysia. He has almost 25 years of teaching experience and supervises postgraduate students. He is a member of the professional body of the Building Surveying Division, Royal Institution of Surveyor Malaysia (RISM). He involved in producing maintenance and space management policies and guidelines for the Ministry of Works Malaysia. Apart from that, he also involved in research and produces a space management best practice book for the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
Based on his working experience and expertise, he has been appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Training Institute of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (ILKPKT) which is responsible for managing staff training. He also involved in building performance consulting and inspection work for several government agencies and the private sector.

Dr. Sylvia Agustina, S.T., MUP


Sylvia Agustina is a lecturer at the Architecture and Planning Department, Engineering Faculty, Syiah Kuala University. She studied Architecture at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta before earning her master degree in Urban Planning from the University of Washington in Seattle and her Ph.D from the National University of Singapore.

She is the founder of Museum Seulawah- an integrated platform for environmental advocacy and sustainable development of Mt Seulawah Area in Aceh. Her main research interests are in the multi-disciplinary realm of urban and regional sustainability, combining methods and approaches from urban ecology, environmental psychology and geographic information system (GIS). She is also involved in research and community works in the field of heritage conservation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Thuraiya Mohd


Thuraiya Mohd is Associate Professor in Universiti Teknologi MARA. Graduated with PhD in Real Estate in 2012 and MSc in Land Development and Administration in 2003 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Received Bachelor’s degree in Estate Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2001. Prior to joining Universiti Teknologi MARA, she served with Ismail & Co as a Valuation Executive for 2 years. Lecturing experience in UiTM, Perak Branch for 20 years in the Department of Estate Management. Lecturing experience includes teaching core courses of Valuation and Property Development to undergraduate students, Built Environment Theory to PhD students and Economics of Green Architecture to Masters students.

She was awarded an Excellent University Community Transformation Centre (UCTC) Award 2015 by the Ministry of Education (MOE), MALAYSIA. Received few grants (as leader) from the MOE and Ministry of Finance, MALAYSIA in the areas of property development, machine learning, and disaster management. Her current research interests focus on areas of green development, sustainable real estate, housing, and disaster management. She also has been involved in machine learning research that applied to the real estate problems. She is currently one of the research members of Machine Learning and fellow member of Interactive Visualization Research Group at UiTM Perak Branch. She achieved Professional Qualifications as Surveyor (Sr) and is a professional member of the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers (BOVEAP).

s. Dr. Noor Aimran Samsudin

Ts. Dr. Noor Aimran Samsudin is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in Urban and Regional Planning. His areas of expertise include urban conservation, urban design, urban history, and vernacular settlement. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2011 and gained professional experience working with a private urban planning firm. Driven by his passion for the field, he pursued a Doctor of Philosophy in Urban and Regional Planning at UTM as a recipient of the MyBrain15 Scholarship, fast track program. His doctoral research focused on traditional settlement patterns in Johor.

In 2016, Dr. Noor Aimran completed his PhD at the age of 28 and joined UTM as a Senior Lecturer, becoming one of the youngest academicians in the institution. Throughout his career, he has actively engaged in consultancy projects and research both nationally and internationally. He has participated in numerous consultancy projects, secured 12 research grants (four of which he served as the principal investigator), and published approximately 50 works, including journal articles, book chapters, proceedings, and conference papers. Dr. Noor Aimran established the Urban Design and Environmental Research Group (UDE) within the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying at UTM, focusing on urban design, settlement, and environmental studies. He is a member of prestigious organizations such as the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP), Lembaga Perancang Bandar Malaysia (LBPM), Persatuan Pereka Bentuk Bandar Malaysia (PEREKABANDAR) (Malaysian Urban Designer Association), and Persatuan Sejarah Malaysia (Malaysian Historical Society). He is also a registered Professional Technologist (Ts.) under the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT).

In 2022, Dr. Noor Aimran was selected for the CEO Program @ Faculty, a leadership program under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. As part of the program, he completed a six-month placement at the Iskandar Malaysia Regional Authority (IRDA) and continued with an industrial attachment as an urban planner at the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) for another 6 months. In addition to his academic and research achievements, Dr. Noor Aimran has mentored numerous master's and 10 PhD students, guiding them in their research endeavors and sharing his expertise in the field.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Md Asrul Nasid Masrom

Dr. Md. Asrul Nasid Masrom holds the position of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology and Business Management, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). Currently, he serves as the Deputy Dean (Research, Development and Publication) and is a Principal Researcher at the Centre for Sustainable Infrastructure & Environmental Management (CSIEM).

Dr Masrom has been recognized with academic awards such as the QUT East West Recognition Award in 2009 and the Outstanding Higher Degree Research (HDR) Student for February 2011 Awards organized by the Built Environment & Engineering Faculty, QUT. His research interests revolve around satisfaction levels, both theoretical and practical, happiness levels, quality measurement based on satisfaction indicators, and project performance and procurement in the construction industry. Furthermore, he actively engages in community service activities, sharing his knowledge at both local and international levels.
